At Queen City Hauling, we believe what you no longer need could be exactly what someone else does. Through our More Than Junk initiative, we look for opportunities to donate, reuse, and recycle the items we haul before sending them to the landfill.
Clearing out a home, business, estate, or property can mean letting go of a lot of things at once. But just because an item is unwanted doesn't always mean it is unusable. Furniture can furnish another home. Household goods can help a family starting over. Clothing can be worn again. Building materials can sometimes be reused. And recyclable materials don't always need to take up space in a landfill. That's why Queen City Hauling created More Than Junk initiative.

Queen City Hauling was built to serve Charlotte, but serving our community means more to us than simply showing up for a job.
More Than Junk is our commitment to finding ways to give back through the work we already do. Sometimes that means giving items a second life instead of sending them to a landfill. Sometimes it means donating our time, trucks, and crew to a local family facing circumstances they never expected.
However we're able to help, the purpose is the same: use what we have to make a difference right here at home.

Donation and reuse depend on item condition, current needs, and partner acceptance. If an item cannot be donated, we'll look for other responsible disposal options whenever possible.

Queen City Hauling is locally owned and operated by Charlotte natives Shannon and Jeff Melton. For us, taking care of the Queen City means more than providing great junk removal. It means being responsible for what happens after we load the truck, too.
We see value in things that can easily be overlooked. A piece of furniture someone no longer needs could help make another person's house feel like home. Standard household goods from a cleanout could help someone through a difficult transition. Something headed for the landfill could still have years of useful life left.
More Than Junk is our commitment to look for that opportunity whenever we can.
We're proud to haul away what you no longer need. We're even prouder when we can help it become something someone else does.
From your home to someone else's: You don't have to sort everything or figure out where every item should go before we arrive. That's part of what we're here for.
Point out the items you want removed. Our crew handles the lifting and loading just like any Queen City Hauling service.
When appropriate, we identify usable items that may have an opportunity for donation, reuse, or recycling rather than immediately treating everything as waste.
When possible, qualifying items are directed to our community partners, reuse opportunities, or appropriate recycling channels. The remaining material is disposed of responsibly.

No. Not every item can be donated, but we look for opportunities to give usable items a second life whenever possible. Donation depends on factors such as condition, current community needs, and what our partner organizations are able to accept.
If an item isn't suitable for donation, we look for responsible alternatives when available, including appropriate recycling opportunities. Items that cannot be donated or recycled are disposed of properly.
Charlotte is our home. More Than Junk gives us an opportunity to reduce unnecessary landfill waste while supporting organizations and people throughout the community we serve.
Furniture, household goods, clothing, kitchenware, working items, and other usable belongings may be candidates for donation. Acceptance varies depending on the item's condition and the current needs and guidelines of our community partners.
You can absolutely let us know if there are specific items you believe could be donated. Our team can also help identify potential opportunities for reuse during the removal process.
Queen City Hauling works with nonprofit and community organizations throughout the Charlotte area to help give usable items another purpose. Our partners include organizations such as Beds for Kids, Crisis Assistance Ministry, Assist Me, The Salvation Army, Carolinas Referral Group, and Tender Hearts.
